Thumbs up Macro shots with the Canon SX30 IS

I’ve been familiarizing myself with my camera and practicing up a little bit on macro photography. Most should have an idea what Macro photography is. It’s basically taking photos of small subjects and showing them from an up close and personal perspective. There is more to macro photography than you may think. Aside from the technical aspect, it requires quite a bit of patience and even more luck.

The list of equipment that I used to take these shots was my Canon SX30 IS digital camera, A Raynox DCR-250 conversion lens, Fotomate LP-01 focusing rail and a cheapo tripod. For post processing I used Corel PaintShop Pro X3 to add that little extra zing.

Yesterday I tried to get a picture of a roly poly. I couldn't get that thing to stand still long enough to focus on.

I think the site looks better like this too. It's easier to see what's going on.

That why you poke a pin in them! Have fun with it Thrax...macro-photography open a whole new world...I've been shooting for over 40 years (got my first camera at 11) and have not stopped since. I finally broke down and bought a DSLR a couple of years ago...I sold most all of my 35mm years ago when the market started to tank on it...bought a nice little digital Nikon to replace it with...but it finally petered out after 7 years of abuse/usage...probably had something to do with leaving on the front seat of my car with the window open during a thunderstorm I now shoot with an Olympus E-500 dslr

All 3 of those photos are great Slap. You've nailed the composition on each one.
